@Aaron thank you for sharing this here. I’ve been addicted to prescription pills for the last 6 years and I was so ashamed to admit it… This community really helped me begin my recovery and overcoming the addiction. I’m proud of you for reaching out and going to your doctor. As another addict I can understand how hard it is to admit. Withdrawal is fucking difficult, believe me I know that - please feel free to message me if you need someone to talk too. You’ve done the right thing by reaching out.

Hey @Aaron,

First off, I want to welcome you to HeartSupport! I hope you find a sense of safety and refuge within this amazing community.

Although I’ve never been addicted to fentynol pills, I went through a brief season of abusing oxycodone, so I can completely empathize with you and your battle. When you believe it’s time to quit, make sure to slowly wean yourself off of fentynol. I decided to stop cold turkey which led to a series of severe side-effects which lasted about 7-10 days, and had I’d known the severity of the side-effects prior to stopping cold turkey, I would’ve checked myself into a detox center. My advice would be the slightly lessen your dosage, bit-by-bit (i.e. a few milligrams per few days), until you’re down to zero milligrams. If you feel like you need the extra help, please don’t hesitate to check into a detox and rehabilitation facility. In the meantime, we’re here if you need us! Please keep updating us on your situation. We want to see you get better!
