Being poor and disabled sucks cw: swearing

Man I love not being able to have alot of money in my bank account I fucking hate how as a disabled person who can’t work I’m forced to constantly be in poverty i fucking love it it’s so great being on the edge of homeless every day it’s so good I love it make me poorer daddy plz. seriously how have we as humans developed to point where we want people like me to always suffer cuz I can’t “pull my self up by my bootstraps” and cuz people are worried about “welfare scams” I’m sorry if someone is able to scam the system with how fucking broken it is they deserve it fuck capitalism

Pulling up by bootstraps is a cruel fable. It’s never actually happened. If someone who has nothing ends up having something, it’s because an opportunity presented itself. A person must take the initiative to make use of the opportunity, but that’s not the same thing as the bootstrap fable. I don’t think many who emit the bootstrap fallacy have any true understanding of what it means. They’re simply parroting cultural buzzwords. Talk of welfare scams is a similar baseless parroting. Some misreporting does occur, but it’s a matter of survival, made necessary by the system itself. I don’t call that scamming.

People regurgitate the bootstrap delusion as a way to rationalize not taking any responsibility for the well being of others, or even taking the time to understand them.

Capitalism isn’t the problem, except as it’s practiced here. Other countries have it, and their citizens have a far better social safety net, and are happier than we are. The problem with pure socialism is that the average worker makes the same amount of money, whether they work hard or just coast and collect their stipend. So, instead of trying to out compete each other, they try to out lazy each other instead. That’s why the Soviet Union collapsed.

The ideal system is a hybrid, with capitalism for goods and services and socialism for things like health care, housing for the poor and disabled, and government services. That’s how the Europeans do it. With the huge disparity between rich and poor in this country, it’s more like a functional oligarchy than a democracy. For that reason, fewer and fewer people are realizing the benefit of capitalism or democracy.

I don’t know what I’d do in your situation. The only thing I can think of is to bring a list of expenses and income to your therapist or social worker and ask how you can make it work. If they see it’s a mathematical impossibility, maybe they’ll come up with additional help.

I can’t imagine how hard it is to struggle with disabilities and having to fight the system to be heard and seen. I wish I had some great advice and some words to help you know where to turn to to get the help you deserve and need.
I just wanted to drop a line to let you know that you are seen and heard here, and if I could fix it to make things easier for you, I totally would. I hope there are things that come to bring your days a bit of joy. Is there anything that you love and enjoy that helps brings a little bit of peace into your life?

Hey, Derpplup! I’m sorry, I know this is a serious post and topic but the amount of sarcasm you have dripping out of your words just gives me life.

You are brilliant and I’m sorry that the system keeps you down. Wings just says it all. The system is broken and it needs an overhaul. Do you have access to a caseworker who can help you with your disability and your benefits?

No matter what, we are always here :hrtlegolove:
