From haleyythornburg: Healing from childhood trauma. It’s been a wild ride

Haley,

Dealing with and healing from childhood trauma can be quite a rollercoaster. If you would like to talk about it we are here. You will find out that you are most definitely not alone in working your way to health. We’re here when you are ready and would like to talk.

Wild ride indeed. It’s hard to feel like the rollercoaster doesn’t have an end in sight. You’re just strapped in, and you keep going until…who knows. You didn’t sign up for this. You were put here. And to be on a journey you didn’t choose can be so embittering. Other people don’t have to deal with this shit, but here you are. You drew the unlucky straw. You are the only rider on this coaster. It is lonely. It is…I guess something that at this point you’ve just grown to accept. It just is what it is. But there are times where it is hard not to wish what if. Or that things could have been different. Or that you could have had the freedom to choose. But here you are.

There is something powerful about accepting it, though. Which isn’t just a one-and-done thing. It is something that has to be refreshed, because the bitterness and pain and trauma of it all can flare you out of that place of acceptance. But when you’re there, there are moments of beauty. A kind of surrender. That you don’t have to make all of the choices. That you can be loved right here, and right now. And to see yourself grow in ways that were unexpected. To see the strength rise. To see your vulnerability, your courage. There are moments of beauty too.

But above all, it is definitely wild.
