Belongs to: Therapist reacts to Alice in Chains Nutshell @HeartSupport I’ve never heard a better review of this song and depression In general. “Mourning your own life”, feels like I’ve been doing this for years. One of my all time favorite songs. Can relate to every word…
Wow, that line, “mourning your own life,” does hit so hard. The disappointment that can come when life throws a curveball can bring all kinds of despair and grief. It is a grief on the level of losing a loved one, losing the life you thought you’d have. It is a cycle of pain that doesn’t seem to have an end in sight. I am so sorry to hear you can relate to every word, since each word speaks of such suffering, but to find solace and understanding in the emotional content of someone else’s words can bring hope-- hope that you’re understood, hope that you’re not alone. You, my friend, are so not alone. Having disappointments and depression and grief are heavy yolks, but you’re not alone. It’s great you find such connection in the song, I am so glad it helps you feel understood! I hope that the mourning of life ends and breaks way to a time of rejoicing. For all the sadness and darkness that has come to you I hope that you have a season of joy!
I really love that you say this is one of your all time favorite songs! First, because yes it’s an amazing piece of artwork! Haha. But also and more importantly, because you still say it’s a favorite despite the fact that it reminds you of some of the tougher parts of your own life!
You may not even realize that, but that really speaks loudly to me as an outsider looking in. It makes me feel sad that you feel that way and can relate so strongly, but at the same time it makes me smile a bit that you are strong enough to embrace the song at the same time. That is difficult to do, and I admire you for that!
I hope that you can see that strength as we outsiders can, and maybe harness it to help make yourself stronger. Take care of yourself, be kind to yourself, and the HeartSupport community is rooting you on!
