Wow, what a karaoke song to sing. Kudos to you laying your heart out there, that would have taken some big courage.
I’m a bit ashamed to say that this was my first time listening to this song! but I’ve listened to it about 10 times since I started replying back to you here, lol. Layne’s voice, his lyrics and that guitar solo at the end are haunting, in a really powerful way, it’s raw and it’s honest. I’m sure if you sang this song at Karaoke you must be a big fan, and then to cry on stage while singing, I’m sure some part of the lyrics and Layne’s story hits close to home for you. When you say that you can’t believe you’ve lived this long and everyone in your life is gone, I feel a sense of loneliness and maybe even hopelessness? Either way, I just want to say that I’m happy you’ve decided to share this part of you today, it’s given me an opportunity to learn a new song, and to understand a little part of what you are struggling with, and the opportunity to connect with you in this little way really does mean a lot to me and to our team here.
If you feel like you want to dig into any of this some more, know that we are here to listen, and even though we are not there in person, I care, and I’m here to support you in any way I can. You don’t have to feel like you’re doing this alone. <3

Yes, yes, and yes…Alice in Chains has been and will be one of my favorite bands of all time. With that said, welcome to HeartSupport and I am glad that you found us and posted a comment on the Nutshell reaction video…what a song, and what a live performance. RIP Layne. I bet your karaoke performance was a close second to the original
To have lived the life of addiction is to have struggled through a life full of pain, misery, loneliness, regret, heartbreak, and death. I am glad you are still here with us today to share your story and reach out for support. You are not alone, I know you may not have someone or a support network physically right around you currently but here is a digital hug through cyberspace to you and just know that I am reminded of the STARSET song Trials:
These trials make us who we are, who we are, we are
We’re motivated by the scars that we’re made of
These trials make us who we are, who we are, we are
We take our places in the dark
And turn our hearts to the stars
It is our choice to take a place in the dark. I hope that your post to this channel is the start of finding a way out of the dark and into your place in the stars. Love you.
