Belongs to: Therapist reacts to Alice in Chains Nutshell
It’s been decades and this song never failed to get me a little choked up by the end, but after having lost my father earlier this year… God damn, it hits so much harder. can barely make it through it.
This unplugged version of Nutshell always exuded such a raw outpouring of emotion that no matter how many times I listen to it, I still can feel the same level of hurt and despair that I did when I first heard it.
I think songs like this give us an opportunity to purge some of the emotions what we typically keep inside. I think sometimes, it’s ok to not make it through the whole thing and just have an awesome cry and process through whatever it is you have going on in your head at that moment. Ultimately, I also believe it’s a way for us to heal and allows us to confront whatever it is we’re hurting with at that moment, and figure out how what we need to make it through.
Stay strong, I’m really glad you decided to share this as it made me think about some things I can do to better handle what I have going on in my life at the moment. So thank you.
Hey friend.
My heart aches for you. Nothing in this world can prepare us for the day we no longer have our parent(s) with us. I lost my mom in 2017 and still to this day songs and movie/tv scenes just hit a whole lot deeper than they used to. I hope during these bittersweet moments you can find a little comfort in the music.
