I completely understand. Addiction has claws and it buries them deep. Sometimes it’s a head on fight and sometimes it feels like you’re out but then there it is and you’re deeper than you thought. You’re in it now and I know the temptation is to feel guilt but please know you’re not alone. So many people struggle with this and that sense of losing control is something shared by everyone who deals with addiction. It’s normal to feel like you are stuck at the bottom of the hill you’ve been trying to climb for so long. Everyone feels like that sometimes. You have strength inside you, even if you can’t feel it now. You reached out and that is a huge step. We’re here to listen. We believe in you. I believe in you.
Hey Friend,
It’s tough to be struggling with addiction and feeling like you’re spiraling out of control. You’re trying to stop and this shows that you care and want to make positive changes, good on ya. One step, one day at a time.
It’s normal to fall back into old habits, especially when trying to break an addiction. You’re not alone!
It’s important to remember that setbacks don’t mean failure, they’re part of the process. What matters is that you keep getting up and moving forward.
Something that helped me tremendously to overcome my addiction was writing down what I was feeling or doing and the circumstances around the urge when it came over me. This helped learning triggers (not always but often). Also, replacing that habit with good ones, such as when I wanted to use, I would write notes in a small notebook I carry in my pocket to occupy my mind. Hope this lands nicely with you. We’re here for you at Heart Support!
