This was BEATIFUL, but Screech’s name was James, not Pattrick. The latter was his friend that did not answer the door.

Wow. This is effin good. A shame thsi hasn’t gt more views

I don’t think this could have been made more PERFECTLY than this

Incredible! I felt so desolate when Screech asked for Patrick…. The devastation of multiple lives over and over. The cyclic nature of generational trauma. I know it well. You’ve beautifully captured what could have been Richard’s story. :raised_hands:

In the UK our officers are not armed routinely. Richard was an armed response policeman called out because there was a monster on the loose. Most armed response officers go through their careers never drawing a weapon in anger. Yes he would go through the mill, our people are conditioned to hate our law enforcement by feckless liberals imbuing criminals with more rights than their victims and yes Richard would have counseling but that can never take the mental stains from his hands. He should be lauded as a hero but instead he was castigated. Such is the world we allow those who should serve us, those who hide behind armed close protection whilst telling us we should not be prepared to meet violence with violence, those people we elect to do our biding who do what they please on our pound, our dollar and who hold themselves above the law of the common man. Every time we demonise someone who would save us, every time we side with a criminal because we sympathise with him or his parents or his family we allow the slow creep of Richard’s descent into hell.
A direct relative of a murder victim receives £11,000 in bereavement compensation. It costs £40,000 a year to keep a murderer under lock and key. They are fed, warm, housed while the victims family may lose their sole breadwinner.

Wow is this piece intense and powerful. I was crying listening to his childhood trauma and recalling my own. It also hit close to home for me because I was married to an abusive alcoholic. It was my way to escape out of my childhood home. His issues were multigenerational too. He refused to get help. I left after waking up to him drunk. Rambling about killing me with a gun pointed at my head and him clicking the trigger and playing The Deerstalker gun game - it’s a movie, if you aren’t familiar, where a bunch of drunk men play “which chamber of the gun is loaded roulette.” One bullet is in the magazine. Anyway, I truly hope Ren sees this. It’s magnificent. I had such an emotional reaction and so much empathy and compassion for the story of Richard’s trauma…. and such joy, hope and pride for his courage in creating his own “backup” and taking steps to get help. Therapy is a terrifying step into a dark room. It is such a leap of faith and desperation. If you can get the help you need and deserve it can save your life from self destruction or sicde. Unfortunately therapists are next to impossible to get appointments with, and most don’t take insurance because they don’t get paid much by the corporate insurance industry gods. Therapists near my location mostly want cash. Near 200.00 a visit. It’s out of reach. So after decades of therapy I’ve gone four years without. I’m back to music being my voice and lifeline. Thanks Levi the Poet for adding your poetry to my arsenal of powerful tools to help release the pain.
Beautiful piece of art, Levi. Just beautiful.
