HeartSupport Safety Plan

This is my 7-step plan to keep me safe in difficult moments I face. I’ve thought through these steps in advance to make it easier for myself to get help when I need it. Sorry to who ever saw my last post… I’m an idiot sometimes… a lot of times

STEP 1 - Warning Signs

Signs that a crisis may be developing (thoughts, images, mood, situation, behavior).

  • Sign 1 - Urge to cut myself
  • Sign 2 - Starve myself
  • Sign 3 - Thirst for blood

STEP 2 - Internal Coping Strategies

Things I can do to take my mind off problems without contacting another person (relaxation technique, physical activity, etc.)

  • Strategy 1 - Geometry Dash
  • Strategy 2 - Do A Workout
  • Strategy 3 - Think About What I Want To Do That Day, Always Too Much To Think About

STEP 3 - Worth Living For

Things that are most important to me and worth living for (these can be big or small, anything from loved ones to your morning coffee)

  • Live For 1 - Be With My Family
  • Live For 2 - Become A Heart Doctor
  • Live For 3 - Get Married
  • Live For 4 - Write A EDM Song
  • Live For 5 - Get A Featured Level, Stupid But At Least Something

STEP 4 - Supporters

People whom I can ASK FOR HELP (friends or family who you can call at anytime for support)

  • Supporter 1 - My brother
  • Supporter 2 - My friend at school during school
  • Supporter 3 - My parents

STEP 5 - Professional Help

Professionals or agencies I can contact in a crisis

  • Name & Number of Clinician - ?

Well done for establising this safety plan! It’s such an important step and a good thing to come back to if you feel like sinking into some dark thoughts. Super proud of you, friend.

Also, don’t worry about your last post. We understand that sometimes our mind wanders in places full of hurt, which doesn’t always manifest into something healthy. What matters is that you are safe as well.

PS - I hold stuffed animals as well when I’m not okay, and still sleep with one at 28. No shame to have, it IS comforting! :blush:
