When most people listen to Psychosocial by Slipknot they hear a hopeless fight, but when we look at the true meaning of Psychosocial we find an opportunity to view the song through another lens. In Latin psycho = soul and social = ally. Psychosocial = soul ally. “The preservation of the martyr in me” then becomes the part of you that is always preserved, regardless of the criticism, the negative circumstances, and the pain. Each of us has a soul ally WITHIN that we can turn to in our darkest moments. This part of us continues to RAGE against the negativity in our lives, and when we listen to this song we can use it to call on our soul ally to RISE UP and keep fighting.
