Therapist Comes Undone by Korn

It’s distinctive of xennial childhood, born between 2 worlds analog/digital not knowing where the future is going but it’s moving fast not yet strong enough to fight and without the knowing the future to allow us to be cunning all we had was the unknown and had to resort to pure emotion and no words to describe it to survive

As a man who has suffered DV at the hands of a female partner, and has mental health problems, I can say that there’s a two tier system in terms of how men are treated compared to women and what is available to men compared to women.

Men are much less likely to be believed if they make a complaint of DV against a female perpetrator. We are treated as liars, we are also raised to believe that there’s something incredibly shameful in “being beaten up by a girl” and in the extremely unlikely event that it actually goes to trial and she is convicted, her sentence will be disproportionately lower than that of a male equivalent. So for us men, from the outset, we know that we cannot expect to be believed or see anything remotely representing justice. Which is why DV rates against men by women will never be really known.

Also, all of the DV campaigns and facilities seem to focus solely on women victims, I have never heard of sheltered housing for men. I’m sure some exists, but never is it offered to men that this service is available.

Men deal with the kinds of pressures that would crush anyone else. The experiences of Norah Vincent demonstrate that. Vincent asserted that, since the “Self Made Man” experiment, she had more fully realized the benefits of being female and the disadvantages of being male, stating, “I really like being a woman. … I like it more now because I think it’s more of a privilege.”

Vincent also stated that she had gained more sympathy and understanding for men and the male condition: “Men are suffering. They have different problems than women have but they don’t have it better. They need our sympathy, they need our love, and they need each other more than anything else. They need to be together.”

Grew up with Korn and am now 40. Never been with anyone and have no one. Their music is strong in my mind everyday

I think I just watched the best analysis of this song. I just have one question: how can one come undone anymore after being shamed and abandoned when that happened in the past, a couple of times, when desperation struck full force? asking for a friend

1997 first Time Korn…

Metal is pain, but used as a force of strength. Endurance, survival, broken but held together. That’s why a lot of people find themselves drawn to it… because they identify with the pain but admire the strength gained from it.

Men can’t talk about their problems, especially in front of their significant other. It will only be used against them in the near future.
