Therapist reacts to Alice in Chains Nutshell

At 55 I remember watching this live on MTV. The first time I heard AIC I was studying for a college Physics exam. I got up and laid on the floor between the speakers. It was Man in the Box. When the song ended, I said who is this and what is this?! Been a fan ever since then. When this song started I began wiping tears from my cheeks. Partly because of anticipation for what you were about to experience for the first time. Music is a time machine for many of us. As you paused and spoke, a cascade of memories and emotions flooded in. We all have our own journey and thankfully we don’t have to go through past wounds and healing alone. We have lost so many talented people to depression, anxiety and addiction. Thank you for being a light. :purple_heart:

Well, he came out one by one because he was probably tying off in the back room. Lane Staley hated the misperception the public had of him

I saw Layne Staley live 1 time opening for OZZY in Houston, Tx in the early 90’s on the No More Tours tour and he was mesmerizing. When Jar of flies came out, I immediately owned a copy and began learning guitar and bass parts. I am a drummer and instantly knew this body of work as soon as I heard it. It has embedded itself into my soul. I took my wife to see AIC in 2009 in Houston at the woodlands and I told her that she n I needed to come with me up close to sit down and watch every single second of the show and when they started into this one/Nutshell, I told her, “You will have tears shortly”. Even though Layne wasn’t there, It was done very well by William Duvall. Fantastic rendition. But Layne Stayley was one of a kind. I wish we could have saved him. He was so beautiful. Rest Easy with Our Lord Layne, we love and miss you and thank you for all you gave us.

The base player also died of a drug overdose.:face_exhaling:

Everyone is a Therapist :joy:

This is a cry for help. We are not listening to his voice, we are listening to his soul. RIP Layne.

You guys need to do God Speed by Max Miller. Another very deep song that moves the soul! Layne and Mac are both very big influences in my life :black_heart:

He’s been the one. That’s all I can say, the reason I got into music and just him, his voice, you can ride it, you can feel it. His voice will live forever

this girl should listen to junkhead …dedicated to you

Something about this stirs deep in my soul

One day I’ll get through this song without crying, not today. But one-day.

As a musician that fights this same battle, I can say I know exactly what he felt. PTSD with addiction is a prison sentence even though you are basically a bird in a big cage. We fight but the power of addiction and poor mental heath prevents us from success. Most of us aren’t strong enough no matter what. I appreciate you looking at Layne. He was an angel gone too soon.

AIC best band ever. 90’s music rocked but the lyrics were pure poetry.

I  her so much I understand the value of therapy by listening to her.

I’m confused  on how this song has anything to do with you just remember it’s not about you

Omg you’re so good- please react to The Warning’s “Black Holes” and “Breathe”!!! You’ll have your heart pulled out of your chest. Bring kleenex!

If you think that’s deep listen to mad season he really is able to let his feelings go without having to deal with the band!

It sucks because we want to hug this heroin addict but the others cannot articulate them self’s or sing so we step over them in the street. we need to give all of them a hug.

In Rehab right now. Getting help now.

Someone at MTV had to put fingerless glovs on Layne because he had so meny trackmarks on his hands…
