20 YEARS REMOVED FROM THAT SHITHOLE. I was augmented from Wisconsin to a unit in Ohio. As our unit was returning, my home unit was getting ready to mobilize. I had mixed feelings. We lost 2 great people to a VBIID. I was devastated. Every now and again these songs by FFDP make me sad. However, through the unit out of Ohio, I met another like minded person like me that I’m happy to call MY BROTHER!

I was in the surge in Afghanistan of 2009. I didn’t give a shit about my country. I didn’t give a shit about freedom. About flags or democracy or global geopolitical events. I only cared about my fellow Marines that I served with. I would have rather died then let them down. THAT is the motivation for most of us, throughout any war in any timeline.
