This is such a solid metal track, not by metal straight up metal, saw it live during this tour
This song is about the separation of Corey and his ex-wife and how he felt with the way that she had treated him.
Who taught you to jam to the music - Elaine Benes?
I know I probably need some help, you are so cool I think I would actually open up and talk to you. Can we connect?
not sure if you caught on this but.
That’s what you do best
That’s what you do best
That’s what you do best (hahahaha)
(Why) why was it easy for you?
(Did) did I deserve the abuse?
(I) I can’t believe I let it
(Not) not what I wanted
(See) see through your bullshit
(Your) you’re so dramatic
(True) true to your form of
(Face) every consequence
(Un-) unintimidated
(-Til) 'til the very end
(It) it’ll never happen
(Was) was it all a lie?
(Too) many motherfuckers
(Late) that’s what you do best
(Lie) that’s what you do best
(Lie) that’s what you do best
That’s what you do best
I’m also divorced so this song is perfect. Why did i not see your true face until it was too late? The acronym in the lyrics bridge part is genius.
I dedicate this to the people I lived with previously before I got my current apartment!
That’s what you do best
That’s what you do best
That’s what you do best (hahahaha)

Corey’s lyricism creating lyrics left to right and straight down when reading is unmatched. First time I’ve ever seen lyrics like this.
Slipknot Sacramento 2024.
Corey attacked this song like someone lit him on fire
"What if we flip the “that’s what you do best”? The “Duality” of Slipknot is beautiful
Please do SLIPKNOT-DEAD MEMORIES. It is one of my favorite songs by them and it really hits deep! Same with SNUFF by SLIPKNOT.
This is one of their songs that helped me go thru my deppresion.
I love how her jaw dropped multiple times lol
From songfacts: We Are Not Your Kind was written while Corey Taylor was battling depression; here, he addresses the despair he was battling, which he felt was bleeding him dry.
This song is about Corey’s ex wife
Got broken up with while I was going through a hard time financially, mentally, and etc. I was pretty much blamed for everything that happened. I tried everything I could to fix things and work through it, but it was never enough she had her mind made up. So I went through a long period of not receiving what I wanted/needed from the relationship until she eventually ended it. To skip all the details. I look back and realize how she would always say how she cared, but never did the things to show it. So this song really speaks to me because I was pointed out to be the problem in the end, but the reality was that she created issues throughout our entire relationship, and never did enough to make me feel loved and appreciated. It was always her self victimizing to avoid what she was doing to me, so that she didn’t have to feel guilty about her own actions.
You are correct (of course, you’re the therapist ) being able to externalise something like this is great therapy! I do that when I rock out to this song! It is exactly how I was feeling before I got the apartment I live in now!
if you google the lyrics theres a hidden message that says:
