Therapist analyzes the lyrics to The Patient by Tool to discuss the reality that most people forget the patience required when they are in a place of needing healing. This song points to the truth that when you are a patient you need to have patience and you can use this song to call to the patience within you and keep holding on.

Tool

Stop doing tool! There are soo many good bands

It’s another one about his mom.

somebody has turned into a complete fangirl. love it

It could be about his mom never had that thought . This song is more straightforward than the other ones.

Fear Factory!!! Fear Campaign!!!

Love your reactions! And Tool…i needed that. Thanks

Great reaction! I agree with your comments relating to his mom, but when I listen to this song it is a reminder for myself to be patient with everything. Spiral out!, Keep going!:cyclone::cyclone::cyclone:

“ if there was no desire to heal the damaged and broken met along this tedious path I’ve chosen here I certainly would’ve walked away by now……and I still may…”
Beautiful

I love that you are going down the Tool rabbit hole! Also your break down of their music is really insightful

You’re right it is a double entender but what it’s talking about is him losing his patience and it being a test to him as a child and as a young adult to watch his mother fade away because of her religion and her faith in something that did not help her. It’s also a case of telling the story from her point of view where she is losing patience but never actually losing faith because she continually believes in God even though God did nothing for her and never can or could.

Here for the Taylor stank face😏

Literally the verses are changing back and forth between points of view of him and his mother sometimes the lines themselves change points of view but it’s literally a conversation psychologically between two people one who can’t speak and one who can.

Ok, we’ve reached a really interesting inflection point in the whole Tool Reaction Vid Universe, because you’ve transitioned from mostly analyzing Maynard’s lyrics on each song’s individual merit to, as a therapist, now analyzing the lyrics through what you’ve unearthed in previous “sessions”.

Starting to feel like we’re breaching doctor-patient confidentiality. lol

Can’t wait for your do Pushit Album version and live salival version.

Could you please react to Teardrops or 1x1 by BMTH, thanks.

Please react to “H.”…

Welcome to the Tool Army.

Not sure this is about his mom. always thought of it more generally

This song saved my friends life in 2005. I didn’t know it saved his life until years later. It came on and changed his mind
