Nothing is completely wrong or anything, but I’m just very tired today. I must have been on edge the last two days and I think it’s catching up with me. Just feeling tired from trying to maintain peace in my family, work, and now a ton of readings and assignments for school. If anyone has some advice on how to lighten up or rest better, I’d really appreciate it!
For lack of a better phrase, this sounds like me on a Tuesday. I am very familiar with this feeling you describe and often times it will interfere with my sleep. Generally I have to take over the counter sleep aids to sleep all the way through the night without waking up dreading something.
Lately, though, I’ve been focusing a lot on clearing my mind and reminding myself that I’ve done the best I can do in a given situation and here, now, as I go to bed, there is nothing more I can or should do, because all of those things will be there tomorrow if they need to be addressed still. Until then, I am allowed to lay down and relax and forget about all of those things. Through time this as worked better for me as I’ve been trying to set solid boundaries between me and my job since I have problems with workaholism.
Otherwise, you might try some relaxing, deep breathing exercises to calm your body while you reaffirm to yourself that you have done well today and you are allowing yourself to rest now so you can be at your best tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your response, I really appreciate it. It’s also just good to know I’m not alone in this. I too find myself thinking about work at bedtime and rationally, I know it will all be there tomorrow, but I can’t help but want to check my email/schedule “one more time.” I think you’re right in that I’ll just have to train my brain and remind myself that I can rest. If I’ve done my best that day with what I’ve got, I can rest. In any case, I also have to take melatonin to help get good sleep, but I hope at some point I can stop taking them.

This makes me think about a stream that CaseyScreamsBack did recently on the HS Twitch channel. It was focused on rest (and more generally, if you want to have a look at it, his Youtube videos are mostly about self-care, personal organizing, scheduling tasks, etc.). I hope you’ll manage to find some time to take care of yourself and do something you enjoy. It’s precious to cultivate things that fulfill your heart without any pressure or particular expectation, especially when you feel overwhelmed.
Thank you so much for your response. I’ve tuned into Casey’s Twitch channel before, but not recently! I’ll definitely have to check out his stream on rest. I’ve also been watching the HS self-care videos but had no idea Casey had his own Youtube channel! Absolutely gonna check it out.
