Even as a non combat vet I still suffer with my own personal demons and PTSD and yet not nearly enough of my brothers and sisters in arms get the help that they so desperately need

I want to start out by saying that you are allowed to feel how you do regardless of how you served. Your issues are valid. I also want to commend you for being concerned about your brothers and sister despite dealing with these demons. That takes character.

Being a veteran can be difficult. I’ve seen it first hand with family and friends. What you’re going through is not easy but you have to remember that you’re not alone. And if the day comes that you’re able to get past these issues and feel comfortable enough to do so, you’ll have the opportunity to the same for those brothers and sisters. Thank you for opening up and reaching out. I wish you the best.

Firstly I want to acknowledge your compassion for your peers even with all that you are dealing with yourself. I know that at least in the U.S., so many veterans are treated like they are disposable once they come home, and we let you all down when it really counts. Speaking out about it, even if just on a youtube comment, is so important and I am glad you are doing it. I also hope you give yourself permission to acknowledge that what you have gone through has been challenging too. You deserve as much support and compassion as they do, as a human being who, like all of us, has had a complicated past that doesn’t have to define your future. I hope you have a chance to connect to people who share your experiences, and I’m glad you shared here

Hi Friend,

Thank you for sharing. I apologize for the way that veterans get treated. It is not okay, and very unfair. Whether it’s combat or non-combat the re-adjustment back to life as a civilian is difficult, and you all need a lot of support to be able to do that. What you are saying is so valid, and it is the unfortunate truth, that many veterans, and soldiers do not receive the help and support that they need in so many ways - whether it be mentally, emotionally, physically, financially. Once they return it is as if they are left in the dust and forgotten about. I am glad you are expressing this. Sharing on a public forum and sharing a bit of your story can help to bring awareness or attention to this issue. No one should have to adjust to life after deployment alone. They should not have to deal with the PTSD that developed as a result form their deployment alone.

I hope you all are able to find the support that you need and that you deserve. You are just as deserving of the access to that help as your brothers and sisters in arms. You have experienced life changing scenarios just the same. Regardless of the type of deployment, once help is needed, help should be readily given and received equally, all the way around. :white_heart:
