Belongs to: Therapist Shows Therapist Chop Suey! by System of a Down
I am a 57 year old male from the Netherlands. I am in therapy for an eating disorder (binge eating). 1 full day a week. And as I have been told: the eatingdisorder is the tip of the iceberg. Now that is under controle, the rest of the iceberg comes above the surface. At 57 for the first time autisme is mentioned and it seems I have had braindamage at around 10 years old (big carcrash, lost concisiousness for about 20 minutes). I have learned to work around my issues, but now it all seems to go wrong. At times I have suicidale thoughts, my head is often a big mess, at times I break down. The song Chop Suey resonates with me. It makes so much sence. I hope the therapy brings me what I need (I am in good hands, I know that, but it is still difficult). Musicwise I switch between happy songs and very dark songs. I needed to get this down in a reaction: it helps in my dark moments. Best wishes
Thank you so much for sharing with us. It takes a lot of courage to be open and honest about your past, battles, and feelings. I see your strength, and I admire that.
SOD has done such a wonderful job with this song, so much emotion, so much power. And so raw. I am really happy that we can connect on this.
You have been through so much in life. Going through something like a brutal car accident can have such a big impact on someones life. It can change things forever. Living with undiagnosed things can create huge challenges in life. They feel cruel and unjust. But from what you’ve said, I can tell you are an extremely resilient person. You possess the skills to overcome life’s greatest challenges. And I am so proud of you for that. I am very happy to hear that you are in good hands with therapy. That can make a world of difference. I also battle with a binge eating disorder and had great support which allowed me to overcome. It is still incredibly hard. But I believe in you. And we are here for you at HS. Please feel free to reach out at any time.
Thank you so much for opening up and sharing your story. Youve been through a lot and are continuing to have things thrown at you. But it sounds like you are fighting to be better every day. Its amazing how much therapy a song can bring you, it doesn’t matter if it’s joyful or dark, its still speaking to your soul. Im so happy to know that you are able to have counseling and i pray also that it does bring you what you need to continue to cope with what life has laid upon you. You are a fighter and i believe that you will be victorious. We are always here when you need, whether it be to rant or to celebrate.
