I still feel like this sometimes. I just won’t try anything dumb because my family is pretty much gone and I can’t leave my brother and sister. I don’t feel I belong anywhere anymore at all.

The lyrics to Last Resort are powerful, and that’s one of the reasons I love this reimagined version of it by Falling In Reverse. It really highlights how deep and raw the lyrics are which brings a whole new light and meaning to the song. More than the original, it leaves you walking away truly feeling the gravity of what is being said. We feel spread thin, left bleeding, at our last resort. We don’t know where to turn, what to do, or where to run to.

The end of the song gives us a glimpse of hope;

“'Cause I’m losing my sight, losing my mind
Wish somebody would tell me I’m fine
Losing my sight, losing my mind
Wish somebody would tell me I’m fine (I can’t go on living this way)
Nothing is fine (I can’t go on living this way)”

Even when we are in the depths and we feel like we’re losing our sight and losing our mind, we feel that deep longing for companionship. Even when we feel our most isolated, we feel the desire for someone to tell us that we’re fine. We look for others who can reach their hand down and drag us out of the pit we’re in. Even in our most hopeless moments, we cling onto the hope that we find in another person. When you feel that you are at your lowest and these song lyrics parallel your emotions, remember the longing for someone to help us. In these moments, reach out to those around you who love you like your brother and sister and be honest with them. They are your flesh and blood and they are supposed to be there as your support network. Don’t let yourself struggle alone just wishing for someone- break that barrier and be proactive in getting help. Talk to those around you and watch as slowly but surely, they’ll help bring you out of that hole in the same way that you would for them.

You belong. You belong here on this earth because you were created with a purpose and intent for your life. Out of the entire history of the world, you are here right here and right now, and that is no accident. There has never been and there will never be another you, so don’t cut short this opportunity that you have to change the world. You weren’t created to suffer. Sure, everyone will suffer in their lives, but your purpose in not suffering. I know that it gets better for you, and I hope this message is just the beginning of that improvement. I’m so proud of you for reaching out and opening up about your struggles. That right there is a perfect example of being proactive in seeking help, so I have full confidence that you’ll be able to continue seeking help, and hopefully finding much more of it.

You are not alone. You are loved. Your struggles do not define you. You matter. You are loved more than you can know. Thank you for sharing your story and if you ever need more help or just a listening ear, please don’t hesitate to reach back out. All the love.
