I’m a disabled combat veteran, I was in both Iraq and Afghanistan and let me tell yall something. We never fully come back from combat, there are parts of me I will never get back. I have several mental disorders now that I have to fight each and every day. My fight never stopped, not all are “Ok”.

Howdy friend,

First off I want to say thank you so much for giving parts of yourself that you won’t get back for your country.

I wish the sacrifices weren’t so high priced. I have never served personally. Having several mental disorders myself, but it’s not that kind of battle. I do however know the wars fought within ourselves all to well. The battles fought against ourselves and our egos. They are not easy battles to fight for sure. Fighting depression, panic attacks, physical pain and all the things that tell us lies. Our brains convince us the lies we tell ourselves are true in attempts to defend itself. Not realizing it over protecting us most times. So we have go to war with ourselves just to get through our day to day lives.

The battles are not hopeless though. We may lose parts of ourselves in the crossfire, but we can take ourselves back. Battle by battle. We all have it inside ourselves to rise up and take back ourselves.

I know you have it in you too. Keep fighting the good fight. Don’t give up on yourself. You have made this far. You got this.

Again, thank you for your sacrifices and service for our country.

Hang in there. I think for many of us, the fight never stops… it lulls from time to time… for me. A lot of days I can’t hide it at all though.

All we can do is our best…our best amounts can vary from day-to-day and that’s okay. Some days our best our can do is just survive. And some days our best is living. Just don’t be too hard on yourself. As long as we know, we’re doing the best you can at that time. Then that’s all that matters. We got this….You got this! Stay strong.
