I’m a proud indigenous man that hides my alcohol addiction and severe depression. This song has kept me alive many times. Yet I cry every time I hear this song. My culture were not supposed to share emotions. … but can’t help sharing that pain…

Hello my friend, thank you so much for reaching out, and having the courage to do so. You are heard, and your voice matters here.
This is a heavy song, and it is one of my favorites. The singer Layne shares his experiences and hurt by opening up about how he feels. Rather than keeping what we go through to ourselves and facing our battles alone, opening up about our struggles and hurt is the best way we can resolve our problems. Doing so can help us realize that we are not alone in this fight.
You are so strong my friend, and I want you to know that we were created to experience emotions, and to share them as well. Do not ever feel ashamed of this. You are so loved, and your purpose here is significant. Keep fighting this fight, you will win this
Do not ever hesitate to reach out, we are always here for you.
Historical trauma is a heavy burden to bear. And even harder when the social and internal call for silence is so deeply engrained. Please find a few friends to talk to. There are anonymous hotlines as well. I used to work at one and I promise we are real people who care very much. Sometimes the anonymity is helpful to break that seal of silence. You can be a cycle breaker but that takes time, a deep stubbornness, and tools in your emotional support belt. You matter, you are not alone.
