It’s ok. Take a deep breath, and take one step at a time. There is no hard and fast timeline for recovery. Reach out for help. If you don’t have a professional counselor or a doctor, I would encourage you to find one. It can take a little effort to find the right help for you, but it is so worth that effort. YOU are worth the effort. Struggling with addiction and/or mental health is exhausting. Having support to help you when that exhaustion hits is a game-changer. That help and support can help you rest. And all recovery requires good rest. If you’re unsure of where to start, here is a resource that you can use at no cost. * NAMI HelpLine: Call 800-950-NAMI (6264), text “HelpLine” to 62640, or chat with a HelpLine specialist on NAMI.org. You are resilient. There will be better days ahead.
Addiction and mental illness wears us down. They can make us feel like there’s no use trying and that we are alone. Like a never ending cycle that we don’t want to fight anymore. It’s exhausting. One step can feel monumental. Just existing can be overwhelming. Trying to dig ourselves out of the hole seems impossible. Trying to imagine life any differently seems useless. It’s too much to think of all at once. One step, one moment , at a time might be all I can handle and that’s ok. We don’t need to have it all figured out. I’ve been exhausted as well, hopeless and overwhelmed. Reaching out was key for me. I’m so glad you reached out and are here. We are here for you to support and encourage you. YOU matter and I’m rooting for you!
