Ive been listening to Slipknot since I was a kid. My mother is abusive and toxic. I’ve faced a number of traumatic events in my life that shaped me including being raped at 9. This band has been so cathartic for me.

YouTube will not allow me to write enough words to express how much I hear you. Let’s say, I know how you feel all too well. My eyes, my soul, my whole entire being knows how you feel. Music is always the way to go but as you get older that that energy into bigger passion, if you can, and let that passion too into pure art unfiltered powerful art. My heart is always open if you want to talk more.

I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all that :frowning: When I see that you’ve had traumatic events that shaped your life, that can mean so many things. But I think you sharing shows that even though those events were bad, you were able to overcome them in a way that shows just how strong you are. And that’s the power of music, especially bands like Slipknot. It gives you an outlet that can be so refreshing. Kinda like that light in a dark time. I hope over time you continue this strength <3

Welcome to HeartSupport - Slipknot is a lifeline for a lot of people and the word you used is perfect: cathartic. Living through and despite the pain and anger and frustration of what has happened to you, and facing it head on - and I am so glad that you have them (and music in general) as a way to cope from the abuse and trauma you have experienced. My heart breaks to hear your story and I want you to know you are not alone, and that none of those traumatic events were your fault. I am hopeful that in listening to all the Slipknot reaction videos that Taylor has on YouTube you are able to begin the process of healing and breaking away from defining yourself by outside influences and events and are able to choose your own path and positive future. We are here for you, keep rocking!
