Living Life

  1. Identify a personal goal that you would like to reach. What are the changes you want to create in your life?

Live life free of my harmful thoughts

  1. Formulate your goal in a way that is specific and measurable. What does it look like when you’ve succeeded?

Make it a month without harming myself

  1. When do you want it to be done by? Make sure to define a healthy and realistic time line.

Before the end of my life

Hey Slayer,

Thanks so much for making this post. Excited to hear about the progress you’ll make along improving your internal thoughts.

What do you feel like is a good first step?

TBH - “live life free of my harmful thoughts” feels a lot (for me) similar to “live life free from my addiction to porn”, and that can feel both hopeful - because it’s something I want - and daunting, because sometimes I can feel lost as to how I actually go about improving along that axis.

Do you feel clear on what improving in this area might look like? Would love to hear your thoughts.

hey slayer!

this is so awesome to see you create an action plan and plot out these goals you want to reach in your own progress. i know you can do this, i believe in you fully!! take things day-by-day, focus on living a life free of those harmful thoughts in the current moment and then in no time you’ll be a pro at mastering how you see the world and yourself. if there’s anything you want to talk through or vent about as you begin this journey, you know this whole community has your back. can’t wait to hear about your progress!!

love,

Hi Slayer, I’m so happy you created this Action Plan, it shows that you want to move forward and get better. I’m glad that you want to have the goal of not harming yourself! That’s pretty awesome and I’m proud of you. I’ll ask the same question Nate asked above, what do you feel would be a good first step to help you reach your goal? It could be something to do with how you would handle an urge, like trying urge surfing again. Or coming here to make a post for support, so the community can encourage you. I’d like to hear more about your goal and how you’ll get to that one month mark. You matter! ~Mystrose

Slayer,

This is amazing progress. Sometimes, the most simple things are the most important. I want you to know that you are seen in this moment. Thank you for being you.

You are wonderful. You are powerful. You are important. You matter.

I feel like I’m getting to the point where harming myself won’t make a difference in how I feel. It won’t make me feel better or worse. I feel like I’m just not caring anymore

I’m so sorry I didn’t see your reply till now.

I hope you are ok and working on some type of plan to deal with the urge to hurt yourself.

We’ve talked about Urge Surfing before, perhaps that’s something you can try. Being honest with your therapist about what is going on is really important too. You could work with them to come up with a plan to beat this.

Keep coming back here for support and encouragement.

It’s coming to the point where even if I did hurt myself, it wouldn’t do anything to make myself feel any better. I’m losing motivation to continue living. My dreams are to ambitious. My life a web of lies

Hey @Slayer5639,

I’m sorry that you’ve been feeling so low and unmotivated lately. You’ve expressed in your post something very important that I’d like to invite you to develop with us here:

My dreams are to ambitious.

What are those dreams? Could you list 3 of them for example?

Dreams are there to be big. without dreams we would be not even human anymore. everyone has dreams, they
are meant to be big. dreams are there for us to realize why we are living.
can dreams be unrealistic ? maybe. can dreams become reality ? yes.
there is a difference between goals and dreams. i am still chasing my dreams, and will ever. that is what a dream
means for me. something that i keep chasing my life. if it becomes real or not, for me it does not matter.
i have something that i can flee into.
you do great my friend, you are loved and you matter :purple_heart:

I’m afraid that if a close family member dies, that I might get rid of myself. Because then there would be a reason for me to go

Hey @Slayer5639,

It’s been a little while that we didn’t hear from you here. How is your plan regarding self-harm management going so far? Any highlights during this last month? Any hurdle on the road that you would be willing to share?

You’re loved, friend. <3

The plan is doing alright the only highlight I have is that I went to a Transformers convention a couple weeks ago. The only hurdle I’m still dealing with is those thoughts of harming myself

Some days, life is perfect. Other days, it just isn’t working. All it takes is one thought to ruin a day. It mainly happens near the end of the day. The depression hits hardest in the afternoon to evening.
