Sleep

I’ve had sleep issues most of my life. I have apnea, but I cannot use the machine I was given. My issue is I don’t feel tired I am just awake, then I’m waking up from sleep. It’s not narcolepsy, it is part of the multi-part diagnosis the VA gave me, and after all was described to me, it all made sense.
As of this post, I’ve been awake for over 48 hours, with a few micro naps, but that’s it. There isn’t a technique or medication, both big pharma and holistic, that I haven’t tried.
On the rare occasion I do feel tired, as soon as I would go to bed, I’d wake right up. My mother thought it was because I am online all the time, either gaming, watching movies or youtube. I disagree, we had the power go out for an extended period and I still had issues. I tried for a week a few months ago, no TV, no games, only reading or audiobooks. There was no difference.
Any ideas?

Uff that have to be so frustrating to deal with sleep apnea. I had suffered for years until one day i had a sleep study come to find out i jave lack of Oxygen in the brain and also did my own research. It can be overwhelming.

I actually had surgery due to deviated symptom being slanted and suffered from tonsillitis and bad allergies. Procedure went well no complications at all and cery quick. It took a whil. The solution was actually meet. I was able to sleep afterwards after years without barely sleeping and gasping for air.

I hope you find a solution to your health cause it realy can get bad.
Prayers to you and solution.:pray::pray:

Bless

Hello @Rogue0257

Definitely seems like been through alot and it not easy dealing with sleep issues but you’re not alone…

I’m glad to see you trying to put in more healthy lifestyle choices to better benefit you through this. Honestly there plenty ways for treatment of it as well not going into feel detail with that since you said you there were techniques and medications you have tried and didn’t work for you. All i have to say is your not alone through this situation your dealing with it can be difficult. Definitely sounds like it difficult to overcome. Honestly had sleeping issues with anxiety problems i definition know how it feels to well especially with symptoms and such. Hope you find something that works for you and stay strong through all your situation.

Take Care & Hold Fast.

Hi there,

I am so sorry you have to go through sleep issues, gosh 48 hours is a lot of time to be awake, and I’m so proud of you for being patient and keeping an open-mind when selecting treatments. Although my experience with sleep was not as severe as yours, I know that I also had bouts of insomnia and I currently have this weird eye problem that has persisted for almost a year. So I understand how frustrating it can be to not have a cure to a personal problem, and to make it worse your mother doesn’t seem to be much support as well.
Something that’s helped me during my bouts of insomnia include limiting screentime and noise before bed, as this is preliminary to the quiet and tranquil environment sleep supplies to the body. However, I know you tried this, so this may not be useful advice. But then again, it’s maybe worthwhile to revisit. Another thing is to reduce as much stress as possible. I’m in school plus am an overthinker, so stress is incredibly detrimental to my sleep habits. I could go hours just thinking about math at night, and this would make me really sleepy the next day. So my advice is to definitely eliminate any stress and just take your mind off everything when you get to bed, although this is easier said than done. A few techniques to reducing stress could be to find new hobbies (eg. reading books, going on walks, drawing etc.), talking to loved ones about personal problems (eg. friends, family, maybe even a therapist), and exercising during the day.
If your sleep issues are harming your mental health, I also highly recommend that you seek professional help from a therapist (as previously mentioned) to work out coping strategies or gain more support and understanding. I also hope that you will continue to discuss any of your concerns with your doctors, because they will guide you along the way with their medical expertise, and are doing their best to help you.
Again, it’s frustrating to be dealing with sleep issues, so I am sending all my prayers and hopes to finding a cure for you. Stay strong, my friend! Feel free to share more of your worries and we will do our best to provide the support you need.
