Belongs to: Therapist reacts to Alice in Chains Nutshell
Thank you so much for your thoughts on life choices, they hit really close to home for me. 45 and I am still struggling with trauma from my youth. Finally started therapy a month ago and have been sober for 2 weeks. I am already feeling some relief even though these feelings of struggle and despair are a daily occurrence.

Hey hey friend. I first want to say that I am so so so proud of you. More than you realize.
Being sober and going to therapy are huge steps to make.
Childhood trauma can be so difficult. We didnt ask to be born, to go through what we did, but we definitely have to deal with the consequences and mess of it all. Which can feel so deeply unfair and difficult.
Personally, I dabbled with therapy a few times but had a hard time clicking with it until I was 28. I also had childhood stuff that I needed to really work on or it was going to continue to rule my life and ruin my relationships and hurt people.
It’s been about 4 years since ive last been, because therapy is expensive in the US. But im still practicing what I was taught and looking to continue going again in January.
In my experience, the work never ends. But it becomes more and more worth it.
I see you. I see what you’re going through. And I see your ability to overcome. And Im so proud of you.
Please keep us updated on your progress my friend. You’re not alone <3
