Watching your excitement as your fellow therapist experienced Slipknot for the first time (she nailed the analogies) is soooo satisfying because it’s exactly the way we feel watching you experience some of our favorite songs that have and still provide us with musical therapy. That metal spreads like this is part of what makes it so great. Every metalhead has got a friend or a relative that introduced them to it, gave them some info, and then sent them on their way with a new appreciation for metal to find more music that they like. The “Slipknot isn’t real metal” folks drive me nuts. Nu metal is such a huge gateway to “real” metal. Not everyone vibes with a progressive metalcore band right out of the gate.
