Therapist reacts to Even Flow by Pearl Jam

You’re quite sharp. Wish my past therapists were as good.

PLEASE this day like 20 of asking for a reaction to HATE MYSELF by NF PLEASE

Damn it Josh, you had one job!..I’m sorry Josh, you could read the bands mind, you didn’t know.

On a serious note though, as someone with mental health issues that have me in a state no longer able to self sustain in society, requiring support workers and psychiatric assistance several times a week, the butterflies line in particular resonates with me, but from a different perspective. Particularly on days where I am all but cognitively absent, though, not the negative but rather the positive ones, can shine through my mental haze like sparks. Sometimes however small points of enlightenment can be chased away with the coming tide of other stimuli clouding up behind my eyes. From time in psychiatric hospital I have seen this to an even greater extent, individuals not knowing truth from lies, positive thoughts from intrusive negative ones, especially in individual who also unfortunately have an intellectual handicap. I see the butterflies spoken of in the song as all that positivity or helpful knowledge being indistinguishable from the negative, so it as all pushed away in avoidance. The song also I think alludes to someone with a lack of social awareness or potentially psychosocial problems, “he can’t help when he’s happy he looks insane” as well ass “looking through the paper though he doesn’t know to read” the latter potentially emulating what he has seen as a social norm however not grasping the purpose or concept behind the action.

Either way it is a fantastic song and as always your reactions are great! :+1:

omg i love them
Porch my favorite song

i think it’s their best song

In Boston, On Newbury Street there was this black guy known as the singing Jamaican who would panhandle by dancing and singing in his cup. My (now ex) girlfriend and I met him one day coming out of Newbury Comics and he was so kind and personable towards us. Told me I had a pretty lady and she had a handsome man, etc. he loved the idea of us as a couple. He became a good friend of ours during our college years. One night int he cold cold snow we saw him singing and dancing away, we stopped and talked to him about random stuff and he offered to buy us a hot chocolate. So we go into the local coffee shop (Trident Books & Cafe) and sat down, he bought us our hot drinks and we started talking about more personal stuff turns out he wasn’t homeless. He was a cab driver and he panhandled to help pay for his friend’s medicine who lived illegally in his apartment after he lost his job. He wasn’t homeless but his friend was and he did everything he could to keep him off the streets. I don’t know if either of them passed away but they were much older than us and that was a good 30 years ago. I miss him a lot and the thought of him reminds me of a time when my ex and I were madly in love with each other. There is so much emotion and history behind that topic, that I get very emotional whenever the issue of homelessness comes up. Even in music.

Please do Jeremy. Give people who feel like Jeremy some hope…

Been watching a lot of videos on this channel the last week, and the only things its missing… Some Rage Against The Machine and some Insane Clown Posse. Both can get super deep, but them clowns can get crazy weird funky.

You’ve gotta do black now

Lol future Pearl Jam songs, have lyrics on tap. Eddie Vedder is kinda, umm undecipherable at times. There are songs, that the lyrics to have been debated back and forth for decades now lol.

NICE!! i love you reacts! please react to fallin in reverse prequel that song and video is crazy

Great reaction🤘…

Another song about the homeless is Jethro Tull - Aqualung. At least I think it is about a homeless man.

You’ll have a field day with this album. Black, Jeremy and Alive will provide you content.

If you never listened to Pearl Jam before than Black ( unplugged version) has got to be your next reaction.

Butterflies are little angels looking after us

First concert I ever went to in 94. My 8th grade schoolboy self loved Pearl Jam! Still do!
