Therapist reacts to Judith by A Perfect Circle

tool jimmy…

He’s angry at her belief. Great reaction.

This song Judith makes me think of the scripture Isaiah 57:1-2

Must mention Tool is who got me through high school and the early years of my Army career and all the wars I had to endure and all the trauma I witnessed and lived through as a combat medic.

I’ll always love Tool and listen to them till the day I die.

The meaning of this song is also in his book, ‘A Perfect Union of Contrary Things’ in the chapter about his mom. It is absolutely heartbreaking how her congregation reacted to her stroke. Sadly, I see a lot of that in my town as well from the so-called Christians.

I am so glad that you did this one. It’s about his mother and her faith. He also has a vineyard and there is a wine there called Judith in a spot where he planted grapes in the soil with his mothers ashes.

Saw them on the tour for this album. One word. EPIC

Felt that way and still do some days when my devoted faithful pregnant fiance was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver…years later i still feel like it should have been me the less faithful that died

for reference and knowledge, this song is about Maynard’s mother, who was chronically sick and invalid most of her life, and yet, her faith in god remained solid. Maynard is PISSED OFF at GOD himself, and also somewhat angry at his own mother for maintaining such blind faith to a god who supposedly CURSED her with her life altering diseases. Her name was Judith Marie Keenan. You’re welcome. and Yes, Paz throwin’ back her hair on the bass break with a pick in her lips was the HOTTEST thing i’ve EVER seen as a teenager when it first came out.

His name was Longinus… he was the Roman soldier who drove the spear into Christ’s ribs. He was cursed to walk to the earth until the end of days for it.

Hitler spent a lot of time looking for the Spear of Longinus. An army carrying the Spear of Longinus is said to be invincible.

YES. Thank you for connecting TOOL and A Perfect Circle. I’ve wanted to hear this for a long time.

This song is full of existential questions, that some people can’t put into words. That makes this song very special.

I’ve listened to a good number of your reactions now. One thing I always love is that you’ll have a song that I can see no connection to mental health and by the end of your reaction I’m like, oh, durr, that connection to mental health. You’re a smart lady. Check out “The Outsider” or “Pet” both by A Perfect Circle.

This song ok…

The older I get the more I appreciate Tool. I am tool.

i love women too and yes Paz is bada$$

This is a pinnacle for APC. That record lives inside my head rent free.

Would be interested in your take on the lyrics to “The Package” and “The Noose” by this same group

Or is it like how I feel…
Angry at the concept and/or another’s belief? Sometimes almost in disbelief or in a condescending way like, “How could you? You’re smarter than this.”… while deep in my head I’m thinking how I asked the same questions portrayed in the song at an early point in life. Then, my ego fluffs my superiority complex into “I figured that out, why haven’t you?”… Sympathy tries to sneak a hand in to cover the heart, to protect it from things like a future commenter that may have been upset by what I said, and fires their/those feelings and insecurities at me. Because sympathy knows ego won’t let them out at that time, because ego will be fueled by the sociopathic side. And we don’t want to get upset at something someone else says. Because we haven’t had some belief (or drug) suck the control of our emotions away. So we keep them in check.
But that’s just me… and I know myself, do you?

Maynard is mad at God as I am mad at the hamburgler.

You can be angry at the self destrucctive belief system that your loved ones have. No belief in fabricated gods required.
