i also feel like we become jealous of others for what they have on social media fueling our insecurities removing our ability to empathize with those who suffer tragedy and allowing us to dehumanize those who hurt others for the sake of our entertainment and that all of this is vicariously repeated generationally through our children. the depth of this song is deeper than the Mariana’s Trench.
you have helped me view tool much differently than I used to. I used to think tool was just music that you’d listen to while tripping on acid but I’ve come to realize that its much deeper than that. the acid trip is just the journey that tool takes you on while you’re tripping. what they’re really trying to teach you is very deep emotional processing. I think coupling this way of thinking with the trip would be very eye opening.
It’s about the human condition, including the public’s thrill from watching others through the media. It’s also about the hypocrisy of humans, and how everything on television is about death and destruction.
Hands down tools best song. IMO so many great songs but this one is near and dear to me. It’s the first song I heard from them
