When we care about someone and really want a relationship to work we often fight to “make the pieces fit”. We will rationalize, explain, say things like “if they just did x”, or “if only this didn’t happen”, all of this is in the name of maintaining or creating a connection.

We will often try to convince others (and ourselves) that this relationship is possible, when the truth is our controlling and striving is actually furthering disconnection and deepening heartbreak.

Letting go, and giving up on making the pieces fit, is one of the most challenging things we will do in our lives, but it’s a gift, because if these pieces don’t fit and we allow them to fall apart then we are free to find the pieces that DO fit.

Are you struggling in a relationship right now? Are you trying to make something work and you just can’t seem to get there? Share in the comments by tagging @heartsupport and we’ll provide encouragement.

An ex bestie called me out of the blue. When she expressed that she was “happily married” I had to call my cousin to gossip. Her saying those words makes me think they fist fight…sadly. I didn’t inquire more

The stovepipes really make me wonder if Taylor really just made us time travel back to ‘99.

Taylor, will you go to prom with me?

Empty vessels make the most noise.

Hahaha, best song for this.

Ok but this is brilliant on many levels

Some people call it toxic and some understand the reasoning. Its a fucked world. Also i wish i could go back to the 90s and see/hear this again on MTV :joy:
