Now do the album version of Time & The Great Gig in the Sky in one take from The Dark Side of the Moon album. Clare Torry’s vocal solo on Great Gig is the GOAT at emoting without lyrics.
Watch the movie “The Wall” Pink Floyd. All answer are there…
Chills. Every time…
David Gilmour… the ultimate slow hand guitar hero.
You might be a therapist. But you have no appreciation for genius.
Yawning at 11:11
Although the song was originated from medication. Clearly the song is about childhood psychosis and how while on the outside the person presents being comfortably numb. The solo guitarist presents the underlying emotional turmoil in an adult world the childhood did not prepare them for.
more pink floyd please
You should do the entire Dark Side Of The Moon album, in fact. And trust me you won’t need any visual support.
Edit: You definitely should listen to the entire DSOTM album. The lyrics, the entire story of the album, will really (really) blow you away.
As soon as the eyes close and head starts to sway, it is the birth of a new fan
How is it possible not to have listened Pink Floyd?
Im glad to see we all have the same reaction to that amazing solo.
The best guitar ever…
If you loved this version you will absolutely love comfortably knumb with pink Floyd but with David Bowie and Eddie Veder singing
Yo fully understand this song you have to see it in context of the wall (built around his emotions) especially well shown in the movie “The Wall”
Pink Floyd is named after Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. They are Blues guitarists. The guitar solos, (especially) the last one is intended to communicate great angst.
I think it is shares vast common thread with Funkadellics “Maggot Brain” YES the numb is the avoidance of that angst. That is a component in “The Wall” movie.
As someone who’s been dealing with major depression their entire lives, numbness is how I deal with it now, at age 53. Two of the hugest issues are outside of my control (though how I deal with them is not - I do understand that), so numbness is my only way to survive day-to-day. I don’t feel anymore, and this is not how I want things to go for the rest of my life, and at my age, I definitely feel the looming mortality. I am numb. I am not comfortable.
Congrats for hearing this song for the first time.
one floyd song that speaks to me recently is Time. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that one.
“Hopefully this is a good live version” Grabbing popcorn…
You missed one of the greatest light shows ever!
You need to watch The Wall movie to get the meaning of being Comfortably Numb!
