A guitar player of 25 years here and grew up listening to Pink Floyd. It’s hard to describe how perfect that extended solo is. Every note, inflection, bend, harmonic, and strum is played exactly as it should’ve been. The phrasing and construction is perfect. There is no down pick that should’ve been an up, no bend to half step that should’ve been a whole step, no wayward steps out of key without resolution, and so on. It’s just astounding - and do it live in one take with all the massive distractions associated with that production is the reason why Gilmour is considered among the greatest to ever play the instrument.

This track got me through one of the most stressful periods of my life ,shit would kick off most evenings and I would listen to this before the action began but by the end of the evening I would be comfortably numb by the amount of booze I drank to be able to sleep through the antisocial behaviour around us.
I was at the show in Philadelphia when this happened. We the audience didn’t even realize that Roger did not come out for the encore . We were a bit stoned so to speak

I saw one of the shows on this tour. This song was the finale and by this time your mind was already forever changed by what preceded.
So you should watch the movie if you can find it or listen to tbe whole album as all the songs tells the life story of “Pink”
