this song is just real! And I love it !
Ren is genuinely the greatest artist of the last 30 years. Nobody has dealt with these issues with such artistic integrity since the 90s. A great that’s not recognised.
economics do dehuminize people by just classifying them into 2 economic factors = consumers + labourers just for hire and fire as needed solely for profit maximization of shareholders…
or Troubles live or not both are great, this one is right down your alley
by the way! Chalk outlines live
18:51 this was the funniest thing I’ve seen all week! “I’m in danger”
love that you are back! hugs all around! but only one word! BUTTERFLYSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! lol
Watching you is therapeutic especially as I’m struggling right now. Thank you for all that you do.
Hypocrisy. Apathy. Tragedy.
To my mind Jimmy’s dad is metaphor for society, cultural assimilation, peer pressure, and general expectations , etc
I would love to see you do a reaction to REN’s song dominoes. I feel like it would be a wonderful opportunity to discuss some very serious topics about self image and self love and I feel it’s at a level comparable to other reactions from ren you have done such as Jenny and screech and now money game. It really is a beautiful piece and I’m certain you’ll be glad you covered it. I know I’ll watch it and many others would as well.
The money bags over everyone’s heads throughout the trilogy represent being blinded by greed. When he drew the eyes on in part one, he saw himself as part of the problem. When he took his mask off in part three, he was staring into a mirror and saw himself for who he really is again. Everything is intentional with Ren
Loved your reaction, as usual!!!
Soooo amazing for a live performance
Great reaction…to the greatest musical piece i can remember
AWESOMENESS!!! Ren is a genius! Love your channel! 🫶🏻:metal:t2:
It makes me think Ren was inspired by me, lol.
But real talk… would love to pick your brain…
“Just because you have the freedom to say something doesn’t mean it’s not a hurtful thing to say.” Then again I believe if something someone “says” hurts you, then you are the one with issues that maybe need a lookin into. I get the difference between “intentional” and 3rd party, or on the outside looking in. Saying something to someone directly with the intention of hurting them (which IS bad behavior, yet still shouldn’t “hurt” them, they’re words), is a far cry from someone getting upset about something someone said that wasn’t in the conversation. And doing it intentionally would also mean maybe you have underlying issues that need a looking at. But obviously with no ill intention, something said to or about someone else, yet this “bystander” practically butting into someone else’s conversation, in a way, not respecting their space and/or privacy, or rights. At times not even understanding the context in which what was said. I understand the negative point was the one being spoken on, but the legit “good” side takes just as much heat because people don’t know how to separate the two sides. To most people it seems, it’s all one thing/issue. And a great point is the fact that it’s now considered “bad” to use legitimate words that have actual meaning within their usage, that are in the dictionary, just because other people used those words in bad ways or to intentionally cause harm. As if half the world now (or still) is so stupid to think that a word is bad and not the intention and meaning behind it, and/or think that is how language even works. Because [as proof] using another “word” that isn’t considered bad, is just fine, in society’s’ eyes. (like for instance… snap, darn, slow, off your rocker, intercourse, wow, god forbid, turd, crazy, christ, oooh!, ouch, wtf (ironically), dude, jerk, bob, holy moly, nob, dunce, special, different… to just name a few) all words that are used in the place of another word considered to be “bad”, yet meaning the exact same thing as said “bad” word when used within the same context. This is proof, in my eyes, most people who believe in bad words are illiterate and/or don’t understand how language works. Even hypocrisy, in a way. Saying it’s ok to use this word in its place, instead of the “bad” word. Basically, “In other words, you can still say it.” Quite literally. An old societal function, I believe, to keep a degree of control over the populous.
And something else that’s been on my mind… in regards to the Money Game. With Ai slowly taking jobs, there will be a point (as depicted in some movies) where most of the “jobs” will be machines. At what point do our governments, who are there to protect us as citizens, have to start handing out either pay/aid to everyone, or make goods and services free for all… a utopia or dystopia of sorts, since most people wouldn’t have a job or income. And then how easy will it be for the rich to get richer, and the poor to straight up just get left out. Like in those dystopian movies, with all the “slums”. Where the average person is of no use because machines do all the work. Or will our governments take care of us? I figure the top 30% of blue collar along with most of the white collar will be the new “norm”, and everyone below them become the “street trash”. Instead of tiers of society, we will have the top, the bottom, and the ones in control of all.
As a therapist, and someone who I would consider an intelligent person, I would love to hear your take on this/these.
I haven’t watched the MG trilogy in such a long time, but I had to click immediately when I saw that you reacted to it. I cried the whole time, you are so spot on!
I think one of the keys to realizing what you’re saying at the end is that your “out there” is someone else’s “in here.” The stumbling block is that we see ourselves as individuals separate from the whole rather than as part of a collective species. Society is a giant truck being steered by committee and the only way we keep from driving that truck into a ditch is to understand that we have to turn the wheel together, not in 8 billion different, selfish directions.
Of course, that’s easy to say, harder to do. Even if many of us look in that mirror that Ren is describing and accept our responsibility for our part in the money game, society doesn’t change unless the majority of people do the same. And, unfortunately, so far, the momentum seems pretty high in the opposite direction. I think messages like Ren’s are important to normalize but I also think, a lot of times, he’s preaching to the choir. Most people who are clicking with his music are people who already think that way anyway. The people who really need to hear what he’s saying don’t care. Or, worse still, view it as weakness.
In my life, I do my best to do right by everyone I meet. I live with compassion, I don’t chase money or greed, I’m honest, I play fair, etc. The result is I’ve had long-time friends take advantage of my trust, I’ve had girlfriends view the fact that I don’t walk around trying to out-alpha every random guy I meet as “weak” or “not confident,” I’ve had co-workers steal ideas and sabotage projects. I continue to live in the way I believe is right anyway (because that’s how I sleep at night), but, sadly, just being an example doesn’t seem to matter. In my experience, it’s just made me an easier target for those who are lost in the game. And it’s been disturbing to watch some of my long-time friends fall further and further down that rabbit hole of selfishness and lack of empathy (because they feel like the world is taking advantage of them, so why bother playing fair?), in the process becoming people I barely recognize.
The other issue is that, as a collective, even if we all want “something better” and are all looking for answers, we don’t all agree on what the “right” answers are (or even what the problems are). Whether its politics, religion, culture, finance, relationships, or anything else, we pull in billions of different directions because we have differing opinions about what the “right” direction is. Or whether there even is a “right” direction. How do we address that? That’s where I run up against that issue you mentioned that many of your clients have: I don’t see how we change that. Even if everyone on the planet wanted to be better and make things better, we don’t all agree on what “better” means or looks like. It’s a daunting problem.
All I can do is keep living my life with compassion, humility, and fairness and cross my fingers that enough other people will choose to do the same for it to make a society-level difference.
In another piece I think it was The Story of Eden, he references the fact that in the treasure hunt participants had to some degree achieved hive mind to solve it. He mentions it as a possible means of ending the money game. A means creating the nirvana he alludes to here in 3.
You weren’t ready… Awsome reaction !!
