I hate surprises

I hope you are getting some rest and that they take good care of you there. I’m rooting for you. :hrtlegolove:

Update - all we know for sure right now is that I have an infection in my uterus. I’m on IV antibiotics and fluids. Have a fever that comes and goes. Got a headache from when I fainted earlier.

After 14 hours in the ER. Finally got a room.

Just spoke with my doctors and they are going to keep me on IV antibiotics for 2 days and then send me home as long as I’m feeling well.

Hang in there, friend. This is series of such unfortunate and awful events. I hope you feel better as soon as possible. Do you have everything you need where you are? :hrtlegolove:

So far I do, yea. Although my husband had to leave for the day because we’d scheduled furniture to be delivered so it’s going to be a lonely day.

It looks like I /might/ be able to go home tomorrow. It’s been almost 24 hours since I had a fever and my white cell count is going down, so the antibiotics are definitely helping.

Also, I finally got an update on Kiera. Kind of. They had a stomach specialist come in and see her but they couldn’t find anything wrong with her. Her doctor decided she will probably just have issues with throwing up until she gets a little older and her body continues to strengthen. So now they are taking her off of her continuous tube feeding to trying to condense her feedings down again. I hope this means they are going to focus more on the actual bottle feeding now so that we can get her home soon, but I’m scared to get my hopes up.

Hi Saphire
I am glad that you have heard some good news. I undertand that you dont want to get your hopes up, but I think you can breathe at least a little bit better now. I hope everything will keep getting better :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks. It doesn’t take me long to get tired of hospitals. And turns out it wasn’t my lymph nodes that were swollen. They think I have something called hidradenitis suppurativa, which is basically a skin condition that causes absesses to form wherever there is skin on skin (arm pits, groin, etc) and they don’t really know what causes it. Could just be another way my body changed after I got pregnant I guess. Although my brother gets absesses sometimes so I don’t know. Anyway, I’m hoping to be discharged tomorrow, in which case I’m being given 2 oral antibiotics to continue taking for 10 days. On the bright side though, it seems like the infection in my uterus was causing a lot of my pain because I am a lot more mobile now with virtually no pain. I knew I wasn’t crazy.

I understand that you are stressed over the infection but antibiotics will take care of it

Yea. I’m not too worried about the infection, I know my way around antibiotics, you could say. I am a little annoyed at the fact that, at multiple doctors appointments I complain about pain and everyone just assumed it was normal until I ended up having to go to the ER. The surgical team that did the c-section came today and apologized to me.

Yeah… Doctors make mistakes. It is unfortunate… but thats the way it is. Sometimes they rely on mashines too much and dont listen to the patient…

Yea. And I knew going into the c-section that there were chances of infection. In fact I kind of expected it. I think the problem is I have a high pain tolerance so something that I can grit my teeth and push through might have an average person in tears. So they just might not have understood that it wasn’t a usual pain. Same thing happened when I got an absess in my mouth after getting my wisdom teeth removed. It didn’t really hurt, to me, and when I told the dentist that they told me most people are in agonizing pain when that happens. I was like, oh. Lol

You might have higher pain tolerance and also fun fact women tend to bare expected pain better then men and the other way around. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think I have heard that before. My husband has a pretty high pain tolerance too. I guess its a double edged sword. Takes a lot to take me down but it’s also hard to get people to understand the magnitude of pain when I finally do concede to getting help.

Yes. Who would have thought that being tough has its downside :slightly_smiling_face:

XD Ever seen the episode of House with the girl who couldn’t feel pain? There are lots of unexpected downsides, usually not realizing you’re wounded and therefore not getting treatment in time. My nurses are also talking about me being discharged now. Just have to be fever free til 3pm tomorrow.
