You should really listen to “The Chapeltown Rag” from this album. It has a music video too.

I have the same depression and nobody else seemed to care about me anymore :sweat::sweat::sweat:

Thank you so much for the comments about solution vs understanding. Leading the person feeling trapped. Going through a really really tough time with my wife who wants to get a divorce. I’m working way too hard trying to change her mind, because she’s my world. Love her to death. Thr reason for this is, she just stopped loving me one day, she says. No fights, no cheating or other dramatic reasons to it, feelings just disappeared after 9 years of together, 2 beautiful kids and only 1 years of marriage. The situation right now is that she’s basically stopped talking to me whilst we’re alone and the kids has gone to bed. The thing she told me just a few days ago is excactly what you just described, she’s feeling trapped. And my “manbrain” (in lack of another word) is only searching for and offering solutions. You’ve pretty much opened my mind up a bit so a kinda understand what she actually means by that. So thank you so much.

I just survived a suicide attempt after being “down” (prison) almost a decade, before I was released. I almost died and struggle every day. I didn’t want to get out, and I still don’t know what the hell is up with the world out here. it’s a song about living after completely failing at life, using it.That’s my interpretation. She’s on point though as well

A few weeks ago I first saw one of your reviews. I’ve always loved Slipknot but your interpretation of each song, words and meanings has given me more insight into the band and i can now understand there is way more depth to them than I ever noticed.
Having suffered From Manic Depression, Anxiety, Social anxiety and a myriad of other problems for years I like to hear your views as a therapist. I have treatment resistance depression as that’s classified as trying 2 or more antidepressants etc I’ve tried over 5 and nothing has ever helped much as my tolerances are above normal and every drug I’ve had to take more than the maximum recommended dose. My body does not accept the newer SSRIs etc. You say talking helps. I’ve seen over 5 different GPs. Done a mental health care plan with a psychologist to get cut short saying they can’t help. Seen a psychiatrist that tried to break down my life and to find the cause of my issues but I could sense the judgement and annoyance because I didn’t share every single moment (some things people can’t talk about) to be told to take a 1980s drug Amitriptyline with the worst side affects of most medications on the market. With not 1 follow up (Public health system Psychiatrist)
Anyway it wasn’t till you got to the end that it sort of hit home and bought a tear to my eye. I’ve always known my own problems and what would most likely set me on the path to maybe getting better but I just can’t seem to help myself or do anything about it. 5 days ago I stopped Endep because of the horrific Side effects I’ve endured for years weighed up with the Pro’s of the medication.
Depression is a disease and I know a good percentage of the population suffers from it. Where’s the help? Do people care? I know for a fact that some people will just never understand it or be able to physically relate. Keep up the Review’s and diagnosis. If you can help 1 person find some insight and give them some kind of meaning it’s a step in the right direction

it is also kind of like that old adage you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make them drink. “put your hands into the water let your mouth go sick and dry”

People stop listening to you when you complain about the same thing over and over and do nothing to fix it. We all have friends who have come to us with their problems and we try to help and/or we give them advice but they keep ignoring our advice or refusing our help. We stop listening to them because we can only repeat ourselves so many times before we just give up. It’s a victim mentality on their part. At some point, that person needs to help themselves because no one else will.

I may piss people off by saying this but with the losses and changes in line up, I felt the last two albums were slipknot by the numbers, but this album really grabbed me, love it

What you said at 5:40 and 8:00 is exactly how I feel with my current therapist. When I tell her about my trauma and how it makes me feel, she always throwing solutions like “do yoga, go walking, etc.” and doesn’t actually listen to what I’m going through. Sometimes I just need someone to validate what I’m feeling and what I’ve went through, but they just gloss over it and go straight to “you should do this…” I always feel so embarrassed afterward my sessions because it makes me think that she’s uncomfortable.
