Therapist analyzes Hate Myself by NF to discuss how even in the depths of self-hatred there is often a quiet voice that says “Maybe this isn’t the truth”. We ALL have this quiet voice, it’s the voice of hope that keeps us alive. It’s the “IF” that remains open to possibility and we can use this song to start to practice noticing that voice in our own lives.
i really enjoy your reactions to songs and how you really analyze the lyrics!! it would be really really cool if you´d react to some Sullii songs! his songs are beautiful and heart wrenching his last song is called “back for the summer”
This song immediately earned a spot on my Life Soundtrack. I burned my life down in 2003 and it took YEARS (and the love of a good woman) to get me through the self hatred I had.
I’m still going through your old videos but if you haven’t covered the NF song ‘Change’, please do! It’s one of his most powerful songs IMO. He touches on the same concepts here and a foreshadow to Hope. it’s incredible!
I’ve never not hated myself, my earliest memories are 9/10 years old, and by then i was my least favorite person, and i was deep into depression by age 12. self harm started at 9, didnt stop until 16 when i met a woman who wanted me to stop and we started dating. We broke off our engagement in 2020 but i will forever be grateful she got me through that season of my life.
Living with bipolar type 1. Suicidal thoughts do come and go like a guest to me. This song use to and still does mean so much to me. Even though I love myself now, this is still an anthem for me.
Please react to “Blackbird” by Alter Bridge (either the studio version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISBIht69fkE) or the Live From Amsterdam version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUh8NOTW1Ws)). It’s an absolute 8-minute powerhouse of a metal ballad. The lead singer Myles Kennedy wrote it in honor of a close friend who died young (I think form cancer) and the song was Myles’ “wish that he would find his solace and be free of that suffering”.
I’d love it if you react to Bullet by Hollywood Undead. It’s a very strange song for obvious reasons when you listen to it, but it helped me through some of my darkest days.
